Examining The Pluses Of Taking Bed Linen On A Motorhome Holiday

June 7th, 2011 by Kha10 Leave a reply »

When going on a camping holiday the majority of us will take a sleeping bag as our only form of bed linen. The main reasons for this is that we don’t want to carry the extra weight and that we simply don’t have enough room in our backpacks. However, whilst going holidaying in a camper van is in the same spirit as camping, there are of course some differences. This article discusses whether or not you should take bed linen when going away in a motorhome.

The pluses

The most obvious advantage of taking bed linen with you in your motorhome is that it will provide you with additional comfort. When camping in a tent you are more exposed to the elements, which means that staying warm is the primary concern. Those camping in a motorhome are more sheltered from the elements; meaning that bedding can be more centred on comfort.

Considering the practicalities

In practical terms taking bed linen when camping in a tent isn’t really that sensible. Firstly it isn’t that easy to secure an under sheet to a foam roll mattress – that is if you even have one. Secondly you don’t really have that much room in a tent to be messing about with sheets or duvets – they are simply too big. In contrast, motorhomes are more spacious and will usually have a double bed in the back to allow easy fitting of bed linen.

Length of trip

Usually those going holidaying in a motorhome will be taking a longer break than those that are going camping. If you are only going holidaying for a few nights then you may be prepared to sacrifice your comfort. When away for a longer period it is important to ensure that you get a restful night’s sleep. All in all we can see no reason why you shouldn’t take your bed linen on your motorhome trip.
